History of Tapir Specialist Group Conservation Fund

Grants are given to projects targeted at
research with wild and or captive tapirs; projects targeted at restoration,
protection and conservation of tapir habitat in South and Central
America and Southeast Asia; education and capacity-building programs
for local communities within the tapirs' range in those geographic
areas; and implementation of the recommendations of the IUCN/SSC
Tapir Status Survey and Conservation Action Plan.
2007 Summary
All monies raised this year go towards establishing an endowment
fund so that the fund may grant larger grants to researchers in
the future.

2005 Summary of Grants
TSG funds received in 2005 were used to give travel scholarships
to Third World TSG researchers in order that they could attend this
year's Baird's Tapir PHVA in Belize, and the 2006 Third International
Tapir Symposium in Argentina.
