  TSG Marketing Committee

Much of TSG Marketing's work is just putting people in touch with each other. We feel the most compelling stories of tapir conservation happen in the field, with researchers and their exciting work with wild tapirs. We continue to focus on creating a human interest and concern for tapirs and their survival in the wild and well-being in captive breeding programs.

Tapir Marketing Publications
We've produced numerous documents which convey the aim of TSG and the importance of tapir conservation:

TSG Presskit blurbs (30K Doc)
TSG Promotional Brochure (PDF 2.8Mb)
TSG Logos and logo usage specs
(Zip 2.3 Mb)
Tapir Educational Brochure (780K PDF) in conjuction with TSG Educational Committee

Tapirs in the Media
2005 was a busy year for tapirs in the media--TSG received many inquiries regarding tapirs and put magazine and television organizations in touch with our researchers.

Television: Sky One Television of Great Britain aired its “Final Chance to Save...Tapirs” documentary, featuring TSG member Charles Foerster and hosted by comedian Vic Reeves on 11
September. This generated many visits and emails to the TSG site and donations to the TSGCF of over $1000.

Print Media: BBC Wildlife magazine
(550K PDF download) also featured an article on Charles Foerster's Bairds tapirs in its March 2005 edition. Tapir feature articles written by TSG members ran in AZA’s Communique magazine (August 2005: Bill Konstant) and Germany’s Mannheimer Morgen newspaper (24 August, 2005: Stefan Seitz). In addition, tapirs made some other curious appearances in the media: “Tapir” was item 18 across “a snouted animal” in the 2 October New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle!

Web: U.S. site Tiny Showcase featured a tapir-themed artwork for its October 25-29 weekly art showcase and donated $5 from each sale of the limited run of prints to TSGCF. Thanks to artist Evah Fan and the staff at Tiny Showcase for choosing us!

TSG Website
Our site is managed by Gilia Angell who compiles content submitted by all TSG members and trolls the internet looking for tapir-related stories. Please contact Gilia with any content you'd like to submit to our site.
